Schakowsky’s meeting Aug. 17 was intended to highlight a geothermal energy project run by Evanston-based Indie Energy Systems Co. LLC. Republican challenger Joel Pollak noted the firm received $2.5 million in stimulus funding in November 2009 to build a heating system for the headquarters of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150.
